Monthly News…

So this month is getting off to a nice start. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have two author events coming up, the Booktastic Multi-author Feast and the Left Swipe Release Event. You can see all the other awesome authors who will be there as well the schedule in their pinned posts.

Also this month, I have a new book to work on. I am almost 10K into the new Lightworker book, and am excited to see where this one goes. I never really thought this would be more than a trilogy, but apparently the muse has other ideas. Who am I to argue? ๐Ÿ™‚

Besides that, I’ve been trying to unwind a bit from a crazy April. Between Camp NaNo and other commitments, I was at a burn out point where I had to step back and doย nothing but watch some netflix and DVD to pull myself out of it. That, of course, led to a lot of catch up, which has led to more of a need to unwind. It’s a fun cycle, but I guess ย it’s worked so far. LOL. As more stuff comes up, I will ad it. Until next time…

Once again, I am embarking on a book release while doing a NaNo. At least this time, the bulk of the work was done in advance, and I was able to choose a smaller word goal because of it being a camp. LOL. Exploring Me, the second of my Lightworker books (a New Adult paranormal story), releases on April 4, 2016, and I am so excited to get it out there.

The second book follows Courtney as she navigates her first few months away from home after the events of Book One. Courtney is a changed person, dealing with anxiety and trust issues (something that comes from personal experience).

As ย I said in my latest newsletter this (and the next one) were scary books to write, as they started delving into more personal (and darker) subject matter. I really enjoyed writing it for these reasons, and am looking forward to continuing Courtney’s story through this camp.

Before camp started, I had already written nearly 25,000 words in the story. Whether I will actually fit another 20K into this one remains to be seen, but I’m going to give it a try. If not? I’ll take a day or two to regroup and move on to another project. That’s the fun thing–seeing how the process works out.

To promote the book, I’ll be taking part in several events….

I’ve also written a guest blog, which you can find here, and another one is forthcoming. I’ll be sure to edit this post with the link when it is live. For now, it’s time to get back to writing! I’ll check in again soon. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you would like to interact directly, feel free to follow any of the social links on the homepage, join my street team, or sign up for my newsletter.

December.

NaNo-2015-Winner-Badge-Large-SquareI’m late, I know. I actually didn’t even write a November edition, because of two very good reasons. One was NaNoWriMo. Another was the release of Learning Me. These two things kept me so busy, I was having a hard time keeping up with it all! I learned two things from this experience…

  1. I can do pretty much anything if I really push.
  2. I will never do a book release during NaNoWriMo again.

There’s nothing wrong with the second one. I’ve learned my limits, and I’m going to keep those in mind as I move forward. I’m am so excited to share the releases I am working on with you. It’s been a great experience to really get in touch with my muse and focus on getting back into the self-pub path. I’ve learned so much over the past few months I have been preparing for this, and I will definitely carry these lessons with me for future projects.

Overall, I am glad I took the risk of releasing a book during NaNoWriMo. I learned lessons, made some new friends, and am so happy with the way the launch turned out. Besides writing like crazy to finish Courtney’s story, here is what else I did in November…

I did several guests blogs for the release of Learning Me: Michelle hosted a character interview with Courtney, I wrote about what RPGs taught me about writing for Merry, did a post about the many things that helped inspire Courtney’s story for Sarah, and had Courtney write a bit about her internal struggle for Tracy. I also did an interview with Denise where I discuss all kinds of things. Enjoy!

Today (December 6), I am taking part in a takeover for Vicki Rose, and a few days back, I helped Shay West celebrate her latest release by participating in her takeover event. Be sure to show all of these awesome people some love by checking out their sites. ๐Ÿ™‚

October.

This month is going to be all about promotion and some more reading. Plus, doing a few reviews for New Age Momma, I might even start plotting my next NaNoWriMo projects (yes, I said plural! For those who don’t know, there are camps during the spring/summer months). Anything else that comes up will be added here as it comes up. Hope you’ve all been having a great holiday so far, and I will talk to you all again soon.

There’s been a lot going on, and I want to make sure I fill everyone in on some of the big stuff happening this October. There are several things I am celebrating this month.

First, the release of SMASHING THE SLATE. This is the third and final novella in my Stains trilogy. Fiona’s now got a child who is experiencing horrible nightmares like Fiona once did. What is the connection between them? Well, as River Song from Doctor Who might say…. Spoilers. ๐Ÿ™‚

Second, you can hang out with me and a bunch of other awesome indie writers as Vicki Rose hosts the Halloween Boo Bash! I love hanging out at Vicki’s events because there’s always a fun group of people and there are lots of prizes offered.

FantasyConAnd finally, I am taking part in the very first Virtual Fantasy Con! I’ll have a booth there, as well as take part in a panel about the future of publishing. I’m really excited to get to hang out with lots of different authors and readers. Hope to see you there!

That’s about it for this month. ๐Ÿ™‚ Keep an eye out, though, as I will be updating this entry if there are any changes/additions to my October calendar.
